Transportation
School Bus Transportation
School transportation is coordinated for all four Sudbury school boards, including Rainbow District School Board by Sudbury Student Services Consortium. Consortium staff can be reached at (705) 521-1234.
To enroll your child for school bus transportation, please contact the Consortium. All changes to busing must be done through the Consortium, not the school or the driver.
Transportation will be provided for:
- Junior and Senior Kindergarten students *
- Grades 1 to 3 students * who live beyond a distance of 1.0km from their school of attendance.
- Grades 4 to 8 students * who live beyond a distance of 1.6km from their school of attendance.
*Students will be required to walk to and from regular school bus stops as assigned by the bus consortium.
Parents are responsible for informing the Sudbury Student Services Consortium of any changes to the pick up address or contact information. Problems with times, routes, etc. should be directed to the Sudbury Student Services Consortium.
Parents are also responsible for providing the Consortium with important medical information necessary to ensure the safe transportation of their child. The Consortium has a policy related to the adminstration of an EpiPen. Parents are required to complete this form and provide copies to the Consortium and the school principal.
Students who are transported by bus must return home by bus unless written or oral parental permission has been given to the school. Authorization by the parent must be given each time a student does not follow his/her transportation procedures.
School Bus Procedures
The instructions of the bus driver are to be obeyed without question at all times. Where a member of the school bus patrol is assigned to a bus, it is for the purpose of rendering assistance and providing an extra measure of safety for our students.
School bus transportation is a privilege – ignoring the rules could result in this privilege being withdrawn.
